(this and the "regular" Kistler Vineyard release were aged in 100% new barrels) Bright, saturated ruby-red. Brooding, reticent, superripe nose hints at blueberry, black raspberry, black cherry and baking spices. A step up in sweetness from the regular Kistler Vineyard bottling, offering sappy dark berries and forest floor perfume; lively framing acidity; and superb richness and depth. Finishes with terrific grip and persistence. A wonderfully concentrated, youthfully unevolved pinot with all the elements for positive evolution in bottle over the next five to seven years.
