Just under 200 cases of the exquisite 1991 Pinot Noir Cuvee Catherine were produced. A beautifully made Pinot Noir, it captures all of the elegant, ethereal elements of this fickle grape. The color is deep ruby and the nose offers up floral, berry, herb, and spice notes. In the mouth the secret of Pinot Noir is admirably revealed - the wine is rich and expansive, with hefty alcohol, but the impression is one of subtleness and lightness. The type of Pinot Noir that must send chills up the spines of top Burgundy estates, it displays what extraordinary progress many California wineries have made with this difficult grape. As with any top-notch Pinot Noir, it can be drunk now or cellared for 7-10 years.
