Picked 10 to 14 days earlier and with a higher sugar ripeness than the vineyards in Westhofen, Wittmann's 2015 Niersteiner Riesling Trocken offers an intense and elegant bouquet. It shows super ripe and warm Riesling and stone fruit aromas, along with some tropical and confiture flavors. The 2015 is very elegant and extremely juicy on the palate, but also very pure and salty. Although the finish is clear and fresh and reveals a mineral grip, the overall richness is evident and almost baroque. With dried apricots and ginger flavors in the finish, the 2015 Niersteiner should be cellared for 3-4 years and I suppose it can age very well.
