All of the elements come together beautifully in the 2009 Studio di Bianco. Succulent peaches, smoke and minerals are some of the nuances that emerge from the glass. This is a decidedly extroverted Studio di Bianco, yet there is just enough minerality to provide balance. The textured, creamy finish leaves a very positive impression. Studio di Bianco is Friulano, Riesling and Sauvignon. Anticipated maturity: 2012-2019.
Proprietor Nicola Manferrari has few peers in Friuli, or Italy for that matter. This is a gorgeous set of truly exceptional world-class whites. As always, the only issue is finding the wines. It would be great to see Borgo del Tiglio gain more traction in the US. Simply put, I was blown away by what I tasted this year.
