The 2013 Rasteau is a classic example of the steep, sunbaked slopes that define the appellation of Rasteau. Made from 80% Grenache and 10% each of Syrah and Mourvèdre, aged in 10% new oak, it offers lots of minerality and loamy soil notes to go with plenty of pepper, ground herbs and ripe black cherry fruit. Like a lot of 2013s (and 2014s) from Rasteau, it’s more narrow and straightforward than normal, but still has plenty to like.
