The Feiler-Artinger 2007 Neuburger offers an attractive advertisement for this traditional and under-rated Austrian grape. Discreet but fascinating herbal, floral, and vegetal aromas lead to a creamily-textured yet juicy, violet- and lime zest-tinged palate, full of stuffing yet finishing with lift and elegance. A wine like this is almost infinitely combinable with cuisine (sensational with white asparagus) and can be kept in the bottle for several years, though there is no need. Kurt Feiler indicated he is going to take over a small additional parcel of this grape belonging to an aunt, a positive sign that at least inside Austria some consumers are again succumbing to its gentle wiles. Feiler-Artinger's dry whites have generally not especially impressed me, but that is changing.Importer: Winemonger, Los Angeles, CA; www.winemonger.com
