Tasted blind at the annual "Burgfest" tasting in Beaune. The 2012 Corton Grand Cru Clos du Roi from Domaine de la Vougeraie has a more masculine, tertiary bouquet with mulch-like, damp leafy scents that combine nicely with the fruit. Compared to Tollot-Beaut's Corton-Bressandes 2012, this is very classic in style. The palate is medium-bodied with crisp tannin. I like the edginess here, as well as the energy and the finesse displayed on the finish. This is an excellent Corton, confirming my previous laudatory note.
