A pure expression of Nebbiolo, the Monchiero Carbone 2018 Roero Srü shows an offbeat personality, with dusty and nutty aromas that seem specific to this wine. I don't recognize them in any of its peers. You get toasted nut and dried peanut shell, sour cherry and exotic plum. I also detect some dried rose and earthy potting soil. It's a unique Nebbiolo of which about 10,000 bottles were produced.
