The 2002 Pinot Noir Eileen was opened at Cristom to compare with the 2012. There is only a modicum of maturation on the tawny rim, while the nose is cohesive, with scents of orange blossom and red cherries, just a faint hint of ground coffee. The palate is medium-bodied with a savory, dried-blood infused entry, touches of cooked meat infusing the decayed red berry fruit but with commendable substance and presence on the finish. Enjoy this now and over the next 4-5 years.
