The Orlando Abrigo 2017 Barbera d'Alba Roreto is a robust and ripe expression. The wine opens to an inky dark appearance, and it follows through with dark aromas of cherry confit, blackberry preserves, scorched earth and Indian spice. The Barbera grape was pushed to its limits in this hot and dry vintage, and although it loves the sunshine, this wine walks right up to the line. Thankfully, that varietal acidity kicks in to balance out the warm-climate aromas. It pulls it back from the edge.
