Here's a robust and masculine interpretation of the easy-drinking Barbera grape. The 2012 Barbera d'Alba Roreto opens to dark lines and a thick flavor profile that encompasses Morello cherry, spice, leather, tobacco and chewy blackberry marmalade. The aromas are all delivered in thick, lavish layers. There is a distant note of sweetness, but the grape's characteristic acidity also comes through loud and clear to clean the palate.
