Made in a rustic style, with an excess of tannin, this dark ruby/plum-colored wine exhibits aromas of damp earth, ripe plums, smoke, and herbs. In the mouth, it is meaty and thick, but the astringent tannin is excessive for the wine's concentration and harmony. It will last for another decade, but I suspect it will become increasingly attenuated.
