The 2008 Beaune Greves is tight as a drum. It shows lovely red berries, crushed rose petals and licorice, all supported by an insistent vein of minerality. There is plenty of focus in the glass, but this really needs at least another few years in bottle. Anticipated maturity: 2016-2028.
I was quite taken with the handful of 2008 reds I tasted from Remoissenet. The estate likes to pick late and use a fair amount of new oak, an approach that worked beautifully in this vintage, which I prefer to 2009 based on what I have tasted thus far. The 2008s capture the house’s search for textural richness and depth while remaining expressive to their respective sites.
