I was slightly disappointed in the 2004 Gigondas Cuvee de la Tour Sarrasine, as I thought it lacked the depth and complexity found in this estate’s current releases. Nevertheless, it’s still quite enjoyable and offers up plenty of underbrush, green herbs, flowers and sweet berry fruit in its straightforward, medium-bodied, style. Made from 75% Grenache, 15% Syrah and 10% Mourvedre that spent 12 months in concrete tank and comes from the extreme southern portion of the appellation, I’d enjoy bottles over the coming handful of years.
