A blend of Grenache and Syrah, the medium to dark ruby-colored 1998 Prestige de Valcombe reveals herbal, tar, and licorice aromas. This wine's medium to full-bodied, chewy textured flavor profile is fabulous. Layer upon layer of red cherries, black fruits, asphalt, and hints of eucalyptus coat the palate. This is a deep, immensely flavorful, intense wine that will be at its best if drunk between 2001-2006. Importer: Robert Kacher Selections, Washington, DC; (202) 832-9083.
