The 2012 Pinot Noir Zenith Vineyard comes from purchased fruit in Eola-Amity Hills, 12-year-old vines planted on basaltic soils, aged in 28% new French oak. It has a well-defined and pure bouquet with vanilla-tinged red cherry and dark plum fruit, a slight patisserie scent emerging with time. The palate is medium-bodied with fine tannin, well-judged acidity but missing some depth and persistence on the finish. This is just a little overwhelmed by the other 2012s from Adelsheim.
