The 2007 Moscato d’Asti offers good length and balance in its floral aromatics, spices and crisp green apples. This is a well-made correct Moscato, even if it doesn’t quite have the level of delineation of the region’s top bottlings. Anticipated maturity: 2008-2009.
Marcarini, based in La Morra, is best known for their Barolos, which are consistently excellent and sometimes outstanding. The entry-level wines show a higher degree of variability, but they, too, can be engaging.
