The 2001 Lealtanza Crianza, from 35-year-old vines with the fruit aged 12 months in French oak casks, is a traditionally styled Rioja. It is medium ruby with an ample bouquet of toast, earth, cherry and currant accompanied by good quantities of fruit, light tannin, and elegant flavors with hints of cedar in the background.
