The Feiler 2007 Beerenauslese Cuvee of Welschriesling, Pinot Blanc and Chardonnay incorporated around 40% still fresh berries, which required early and rapid harvest and a wine whose juicy freshness in turn lent it to being captured by early bottling. The hazelnut cream, apple jelly, white raisin, and glazed pineapple character of this lush wine is perfectly leavened by its persistent sense of lively acidity and results in refreshment of a sort generally absent from Burgenland Beerenauslese. The pressing of whole clusters - employed here for nobly sweet wines since the 2005 vintage - also seems to be paying dividends in clarity and vivacity. This should remain a delight for at least a decade, during which one can expect it to pick up a caramelized overlay.Feiler-Artinger's dry whites have generally not especially impressed me, but that is changing.Importer: Winemonger, Los Angeles, CA; www.winemonger.com
