The 2004 Chateau La Roquette L’Accent de Roquete (80% Grenache and the rest Mourvedre and Syrah) is superb. Deep ruby in color with a glorious nose of black raspberries, kirsch, pepper, spice box, and licorice, the wine has wonderful sweetness, full-throttle density, and a full-bodied, heady mid-palate and finish with moderate tannin. Daniel Brunier told me that the alcohol was well north of 15%, as 2004 in Chateauneuf du Pape had alcohol levels similar to 2003. Look for this wine to drink well for 15 or more years.
