Abadia de Acon’s 2005 Reserva features roasted black fruits, confiture of blackberry, and plenty of spice. Dense and rich on the palate in a big, brawny style, it has enough underlying structure to keep through 2025. It will become more civilized with another 4-5 years of cellaring. The 2005 Acon Reserva spent 18 months in barrel. It is a blend of 85% Tempranillo and 15% Cabernet Sauvignon. It is opaque purple with a brooding bouquet of wood smoke, incense, and compote of blackberry. Dense, layered and tannic, it has all the right stuff but will require a minimum of 4 years of cellaring to fully blossom. This powerhouse will drink well from 2015 to 2030.
