The 2004 Stielle is rounder, sweeter and more harmonious than the Buriano. This supremely polished, elegant wine flows onto the palate with beautifully ripe dark fruit supported by sweet, silky tannins. With time in the glass the wine's beguiling inner perfume begins to appear, and everything is clearly in the right place. Stielle is 70% Sangiovese and 30% Cabernet Sauvignon that spent 15 months in French oak. This is a terrific effort from Rocca di Castagnoli. Anticipated maturity: 2010-2022.
