A sleeper selection, the 2009 Cotes du Rhone Roc-Epine (a 10,000-case blend of 70% Grenache and 30% Syrah aged in cement and stainless steel) offers sensational value. It possesses copious amounts of strawberry and cherry fruit, garrigue, pepper, and spice box characteristics in its medium-bodied, lush, voluptuously textured personality. Drink it over the next 2-3 years.
Sadly, this outstanding estate does not make a lot of wine, but what they do produce is top flight.
