The 2001 Cotes du Rhone-Villages Cairanne Cuvee Gabrielle is a blend of 50% Grenache, 35% Syrah, 10% Mourvedre, and 5% old vine Carignan. It exhibits a dense ruby/purple color along with roasted, meaty, earthy characteristics as well as structure and tannin. Blueberry, cherry, pepper, cedar, and spice box are present in the aromatics, but the flavors are more substantial as well as tannic. This is a more rustic, bigger example than the Trois Soeurs.
