The 1990 Barolo Vigna Francesco reveals deeper color than the 1989 Barolo Vigna Francesco, as well as more concentration and depth. The smoky, vanillin component in its otherwise ripe, fragrant nose of black-cherries, saddle leather, and rose petals, reveals evidence of partial aging in small new oak casks. Succulent and opulent, this superb, rich, full-bodied wine shows impeccable winemaking and considerable personality and style. It should drink well for 15-20 years. Given how good the wines of this producer performed, I am surprised they are not more readily found in export markets. No known American importer.
