The 2004 Chardonnay Tiglat, done largely in barrique, offers richness with spine, creaminess, yet brightness and clarity. Caramelized pear, baked apple, vanilla cream, and subtly integrated oak come together for a ravishingly complete and balanced wine. Even the 2003 Tiglat retained a remarkable amount of freshness. Pale yellow-green. Discreet aromas of pear, star anise and vanilla, with delicate oak spices adding complexity. Elegant and rather subtle in the mouth, with flavors of fresh apple, citrus fruit and minerals complemented by unobtrusive oakiness and enlivened by playful acidity. Stylish and food-friendly. Most vintages under this label are botrytized but dry late-harvest wines, but this wine is completely absent of noble rot. Drink from 2008 to 2014.
