The entry-level white 2014 Lapola is a blend of approximately 70% Godello, 20% Albari?o and 10% Dona Blanca cold-fermented with indigenous yeasts in 600-liter French and Austrian oak barrels; it was aged in contact with the lees in those same barrels, then in foudres for a total of ten months, and naturally stabilized in concrete vats before bottling. The oak is nicely integrated, and allows for a subtle layer of spices under the floral and white fruit notes; there are fennel and aniseed aromas that show very good freshness, balance and elegance. The palate is terribly tasty, with a silky texture, great, clean and focused acidity and a salty, mineral finish, crisp but with good volume and dry.
