Slightly more well-endowed is the 2007 Points West red, a blend of 66% Syrah and 34% Mourvedre. Notes of forest, tree bark, mushrooms, damp earth, and blue and red fruits jump from the glass of this burly red that just falls short of being rustic. Displaying surprisingly silky tannins as well as a broad palate feel, and a fine finish, it should drink nicely for 2-3 years. This is the personal project of Tablas Creek’s longtime winemaker Neil Collins and his sister Jackie Meisinger. His wines share with Tablas Creek exceptional value as well as flexibility with various cuisines. All are screw cap-finished except for The Will.Tel. (805) 238-0845
