Produced from 40-year-old vines that yielded 56 hectoliters per hectare, the 1999 Bourgogne Pinot Noir Cuvee Vieilles Vignes reveals appealing red cherry and strawberry aromas. This wine was entirely raised in oak barrels, 30% of which were new. Red currants, cherries, and tangy berries can be found in this easygoing yet delicious and well-made, light to medium-bodied wine. It is lush and appealing. Drink it over the next 3 years. Importer: Robert Kacher Selections, Washington, DC; tel. (202) 832-9083.
