The 2007 La Querciolaia (Sangiovese, Cabernet Sauvignon) is a huge, massive wine with little of the charm of the year. I have tasted very few 2007s with this amount of sheer tannin. It is hard for me to see this ever coming in balance. Anticipated maturity: 2015-2022.
These new releases from Castello di Querceto are a bit of a mystery. The wines mostly possesses excellent fruit, richness and density, but are also heavily oaked to the extreme.
