The 2017 Liguai is a blend of 45% Syrah, 30% Cabernet Sauvignon and 25% Carménère from Maipo Andes, aged for 18 months in first- and second-use French barrels. Garnet-red in hue. The nose offers oaky aromas from the barrels along with black currant and white pepper over potpourri and an invigorating whiff of volatility. On the palate, it is moderately concentrated with voluminous flow and Maipo’s familiar polished tannins, which are compressed a little by the wood. This is a deliciously sunny, Bordeaux-style wine.
