The 1978 Nuits St Georges Village was opened by Bertrand Chevillon following the tasting of 2014s. He told me it was made by his grandfather Maurice Chevillon, at a time when most of the production was still being sold to négo?e. It has a lovely sous-bois and morel-scented bouquet that has lovely definition, rustic as hell but who cares? The palate is crisp and still lively, especially for a Village Cru, with a slightly tarry, tobacco and undergrowth-scented finish. A peasant wine for sure, however, after three decades you would still finish your glass. The score is a moot point here. Tasted November 2015.
