The 2015 Cortona Il Castagno shows a thick and dark appearance. This wine represents a terrific union of two very compatible elements. The first is the Syrah grape that loves warm sunshine. The second is Tuscany that delivers those conditions on a happily consistent basis. I would add a third point of compatibility: The 2015 vintage that saw no shortage of luminosity and warmth. All of these factors combined create this beautiful wine that is exuberant, generous, rich and lasting. It is teeming with dark, ripe fruit richness.
