The 2016 Gevrey Chambertin Le Clos comes from vines planted in 1997 and located in the center of the village whose actual lieu-dit is (drum roll please) “Village.” It has a kind of languid, ripe and generous bouquet with crushed strawberry and redcurrant aromas that feel very sensual. The palate is sweet and nicely poised, with a slightly candied note to this cuvée, though for me, it does not quite deliver the same level of nuance as the Gevrey-Chambertin En Champ.
