Hand-picked form a very early ripening black, open-fermented in half-tonne bins; matured in three air-dried French hogsheads. Has class stamped all over it, mouthfilling, yet perfectly balanced and harmonious, fruit, oak and tannins all on the one page.

Drinks well now and has potential. Very fragrant, lively complex ripe black fruits, with the classic regional herbal touch of almost gherkin and intense green olive. The palate is elegant and long, medium full bodied with an appealing fresh dark berry middle palate, unpacking into dried spices, smoked meats, and long fruits. A final kick of lifted red cherry on the finish that lingers for 30 plus seconds. Lovely dry red style.

Possessing a deep garnet-purple colour, the 2014 Block 3 1935 Planting Shiraz Barossa Valley is full of lifted notes of crushed red and black currants, kirsch, blueberry pie, violets and a touch of dried mulberries. The spicy, medium-full bodied palate is fresh, has chewy tannins and a long, earthy finish
