The big, powerful, blockbuster 2003 Cotes du Rhone-Villages Rasteau Vieilles Vignes (16% natural alcohol) is a blend of 70% Grenache, 15% Syrah, and 15% Mourvedre. It exhibits a muscular, chocolatey, mineral, and espresso-scented bouquet with hints of roast beef, black cherries, and spice in the background. The tannic structure is reminiscent of a young Bordeaux, so this is a wine to forget for 2-5 years, and drink over the following decade.
