The 1999 Blanco is a complex, complete, and provocative dry white. Two-hundred cases of this exotic 1999 have made it to the United States. It offers a smorgasbord of aromas, not surprising in view of the fact that it is made from a multi-grape blend of white Grenache, Muscatel, Sauvignon Blanc, Marsanne, Roussanne, Chardonnay, and Viognier. The prodigious bouquet reveals scents of petroleum, rose petals, honeysuckle, peaches, apricots, and smoky wood. In the mouth, this oily, funky wine is full-bodied, super-concentrated, pure, and ripe, with no oxidation and beautifully integrated French oak (from its 12-months aging in French Allier barrels). It exhibits a richness and concentration reminiscent of a top Burgundy. Although it comes close to being over the top, it pulls back just in time. Not for everybody, it is an amazingly complex, concentrated, individualistic offering to drink over the next 2-3 years. Bravo to Remelluri for having the courage to produce something so distinctive!Importer: Jorge Ordonez, Fine Estates From Spain, Dedham, MA; tel. (781) 461-5767
