The pink-salmon-orange-ish 1999 Rose from Mas des Bressades was produced from 70% Grenache, 20% Cinsault, and 10% Syrah. Unlike most roses that, when good, serve well as picnic or aperitif wines, this rich and dense offering is admirable when accompanying food. Its red fruit scents lead to a medium-bodied, velvety-textured character packed with thick cherry and strawberry flavors. Experience has demonstrated that this wine comes to life when served with grilled, garlic-covered shrimp, and assorted barbecued seafood. A superb value, it should be drunk over the next 8 months.
