The 2009 Hispano Suizas Sauvignon Blanc (100%) was barrel-fermented and then aged in stainless steel. Light gold in color, it offers up an exotic nose (for this varietal) of fruit salad, citrus, and tropical aromas. On the palate the principal flavor is of very ripe grapefruit with adequate acidity, good concentration, and a medium-long finish. Drink this singular effort over the next 1-2 years.
The Bodegas Hispano Suizas project began in 1999 and consists of 55 hectares (121 acres) in Requena in the inland portion of the Valencia region. The current releases include two outstanding sparkling wines.
