Originating just a bit north and uphill from his Volnay Fremiets, in the chalkiest corner of Pommard, Rossignol’s 2005 Pommard Chanlins suggests salted beet root and roasted meats on the nose. Rich and dense, yet precise in flavors, with chalky, wet stone and salty accents plus abundant, fine-grained tannins, this wine finishes with persistent meat and minerals, but in a rather somber key.
