The 2006 Trisaetum Pinot Noir is medium ruby-colored with an expressive bouquet of cedar, spice box, cherry, and raspberry. This leads to an elegant, silky-textured wine with ripe, savory flavors just a bit lacking in depth. Nevertheless, this is a lovely Pinot Noir to drink over the next 6-8 years. I also tasted two superb Rieslings from the 2007 vintage (one in a Spatlese and the other in an Auslese style) which have not been released. These outstanding efforts will merit serious consideration from Riesling lovers.
Trisaetum is a joint venture between Josh Bergstrom and James and Andrea Frey. The concept is to produce a blended wine from the Frey’s vineyard holdings located in disparate locations of the Willamette Valley with Josh Bergstrom as master blender and winemaker. The first two vintages (2005 and 2006) were produced at Bergstrom Winery while the new winery (where this tasting was conducted) was being constructed.
