The 2008 Tinto “Coroa d’Ouro” is a typical Douro blend of Touriga Nacional, Tinta Roriz, Touriga Franca and Tinta Barroca. Another fine value offering from this winery, this is something that really grew on me. As it opened velvety and charming, with a touch of roasted meat, it impressed for its balance and seductive texture. As it aired out, it showed steel, an earthiness, and it came together beautifully with all the parts integrating. The wine seems pure and fresh. This graceful wine is a nice buy for early consumption. Drink now-2017. This winery has some nice offerings this issue at all levels, but it is hard to avoid calling special attention to the value wines – they performed very well at quite nice price points.Importer: HGC Imports, San Jose, CA.; tel.
