The Zeni 2016 Amarone della Valpolicella Barriques (with 15,000 bottles made) has a spicy, savory bouquet with dried fruit, blackcurrant, baking spice and dark cola. The wine has a sweet side that cedes to a very strong 16% alcohol content. It is texturally thick and concentrated with some initial tertiary definition that comes across with campfire ash and baked fruit.

The Zeni 2015 Amarone della Valpolicella Barriques shows mild sweetness and plenty of rich and exuberant fruit. The bouquet reveals dark berry, mature cherry, baked plum, spice, toasted cinnamon and chestnut husk. This is a thickly textured Amarone with plenty of fruit weight and lots of the spicy tannins and extract you might expect of a wine called "Barriques." The blend is 40% Corvina, 50% Corvinone and 10% Rondinella, and the finished wine ages in barrique for 12 months. Production is 20,000 bottles.

Supple tannins are well-meshed with flavors of ripe black cherry and fig cake and accents of subtle smoke and spice box in this balanced, medium- to full-bodied red. Zeni's 2013 Amarone della Valpolicella Barriques is a house blend of 60% Corvina, 20% Corvinone and 20% Rondinella that sees anywhere between four and five years of appassimento, depending on the vintage. As the wine name suggests, this wine is aged in oak, specifically 14 months of French barrique. The results are rich, sweet and succulent (with seven grams per liter of residual sugar), and the alcohol is hard to miss at 16%. This is a full-bodied red wine with thick layers of black fruit and spice. Some 20,000 bottles were made.
