Marselan is a grape variety made by crossing Cabernet Sauvignon and Grenache. Zuccardi planted their 3.5 acre vineyard of Marselan in 2000. The 2006 Textual Marselan spent 6 months in French oak. Dark ruby/purple-colored, it offers aromas of cedar, spice box, cherry, and red currant. Medium to full-bodied, on the palate the wine is juicy, with excellent red fruit flavors and some light tannin. It could use more mid-palate weight, but will make for pleasant drinking over the next several years. All of Zuccardi's Textual wines are excellent values.Familia Zuccardi is a family owned winery started in 1963 when they planted the first vineyard in Maipu, then a desert region, followed in 1973 by a second vineyard in Santa Rosa, another desert. Familia Zuccardi has also been a pioneer in the introduction of non-indigenous varieties into Argentina. These are bottled under the Textual label.Importer: Adam Sager, Winesellers Ltd., Skokie, IL; www.familiazuccardi.com
