It can be hard to get excited by the prospect of Pinot Gris, but when you get a wine like this 2021 Single Vineyard Pinot Gris from Mornington Peninsula, it does assuage any reservation about the grape. There are notes of summer pears, salted citrus, apple skins and layers of very fine, chalky phenolics in the mouth. It is textural. Through the finish, there is a jasmine tea floral note/bitterness that sweeps up all the pretty fruit and ties it into a smart, neat little package. Nicely done—a pleasure.
