From clayey vineyards around Westhofen, picked by hand and vinified in large old oak casks, the 2022 Grauer Burgunder trocken shows an intense, refined and elegant bouquet with ripe white fruit and discreet sur lies aromas (aged on the full lees until March). Bottled in April, this is a medium-bodied, very elegant and finely grippy Pinot Gris with juicy fruit and delicate bitters on the finish, with ripe pears on the aftertaste and a salivating salinity. This is an excellent gastronomic wine with good length and persistent varietal aromas. 12.5% stated alcohol. Screw cap. Tasted at the domaine in July 2023.

Entirely from Westhofen grapes, the 2021 Grauer Burgunder trocken shows a clear, pure, fresh and precise nose with bright fruit intertwined with finely reductive flint-stone notes. Very elegant and juicy on the palate, this is a pure but round and dry Pinot Gris with fine phenolic grip on the elegant and finely bitter finish. 12.5% stated alcohol. Screw-cap closure. Tasted at the domaine in August 2022.

The 2019 Grauer Burgunder trocken is a round and fruity but finely structured and creamy Pinot Gris with nervy freshness and Burgundian finesse, flavor and tension. Honestly, this is an excellent Pinot Gris, and it is much closer to the Chardonnays from the C?te Chalonnaise or Maconnais than any Pinot Grigio I know. Tasted from AP 08 20 in April 2020.
