A blend of 62% Cabernet Sauvignon, 35% Merlot and 3% Petit Verdot, the 2017 Girt By Sea Cabernet Merlot sees only about 15% new oak. A medium-bodied effort, it's silky and approachable, with leafy overtones to its cherry and raspberry fruit. Fun and easy to drink, it's a solid entry-level wine.

Prominent herbal aromas of bay leaf and sage mark the nose of the 2012 Girt By Sea Cabernet Merlot, a medium-bodied blend of 74% Cabernet Sauvignon, 25% Merlot and 1% Shiraz. It's lithe and supple, finishing with tart cranberry flavors. Drink up over the next several years.

Medium to deep-garnet colored with a hint of purple, the 2011 Girt by Sea Cabernet Merlot is scented of blackcurrants, black plums and cedar with hints of Mediterranean herbs and pencil lead. Medium-bodied in the mouth with firm, chewy tannins overshadowing the herbal and black berry flavors, it finishes medium to long and a little astringent. Drink it now to 2017+. 2008 Girt by Sea Cabernet Merlot is a blend of Cabernet and Merlot plus small additions of Malbec, Cabernet Franc, Shiraz and Grenache, maturing 12 months in French and American Oak. With a deep garnet-purple color, it possesses fragrant scents of freshly crushed blackberries, black currant, violets, mace and clove with a hint of cigar boxes. Medium to high acidity and a medium to firm level of very fine tannins lend a seamless backbone to the pure, concentrated and medium to full bodied palate going into a long finish. Though tempting to crack-open now, it will be in its prime 2012 to 2019+. Polished, complex and impeccably made, Voyager Estate's range of current releases is to be commended.
