Aged for 12 months in French and American oak, 40% new, the 2008 Shiraz provides a very deep garnet-purple color and pretty aromas of crushed blackberries and blueberries with notes of violets, mace and allspice plus nuances of anise and vanilla. Medium to full bodied, the palate has crisp acidity, a medium level of very fine grained tannins supporting the generous fruit and a long finish. With so much going on, it can be approached now but it should evolve and better integrate over the next year, with optimal drinking 2011 to 2016+.
Polished, complex and impeccably made, Voyager Estate's range of current releases is to be commended.
