The 1993 Private Reserve Pinot Noir is difficult to assess. Obviously the winery thought it had more depth and potential. However, at present what the taster gets is more oak and tannin than fruit. The wine possesses more structure, as well as a slightly deeper color, but it does not offer the charm, fat, or headiness of the regular bottling. Give it 1-2 years of cellaring.I have always felt that Tualatin made far better white wines, particularly Chardonnay, than Pinot Noir, so I am delighted to report on this attractive offering.Tel.
