Here is a new entry-level wine from Tua Rita. The 2014 Palazzetto plays a very important role in creating the quality pyramid that characterizes the Tua Rita production philosophy. The wine is mostly Sangiovese with other Bordeaux grapes thrown in. The fruit represents the leftover selections from parcels that did not perform as well in the challenging 2014 vintage. Sangiovese, for example, had a hard time reaching optimal ripeness in this damp year. By creating Palazzetto, the estate’s best grapes were earmarked for the top shelf wines. This proved to be a winning strategy in 2014. Here you have a simple red that offers nice fruit favors that quickly segue to bright acidic freshness. Wash it down with pizza or Italian takeout.
